The Making of a Nantucket

If using caning for the vertical staves you need to be very careful to keep them straight. Hardwood staves will remain straight and does make a solid basket but adds much more to the final cost that cane. Both baskets are beautiful and one is not better than the other it is really personal preference.

While this is an extremely over simplified version of making a Nantucket Basket it does give you an idea of some of the steps involved. I do hope to create a video for those interest in Nantucket baskets.
